Learning Target: 11-12.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative, connotative, and technical meanings. W.11-12.3.C Use a variety of techniques to sequence events so that they build on one another to create a coherent whole and build toward a particular tone.
Classwork
  1. Do Now: Title to day's entry Visualizing My Writing Struggles. Do it- visualize them! For today's entry, you may sketch AND write your response. It is not about volume of writing today. Rather, the DO NOW is about using the 10 minute time to think about your writing struggles and put them down on paper using BOTH words and images.
  2. After: Looking at a high school literary magazine- In your groups look at both the website and print versions of the magazine. Below your DO NOW, write the title Things I Want in Our Literary Magazine. As you discuss, list the parts of the magazine you like and explain why.
  3. Then: Individual work-time
  4. Next: scheduled meetings with editors
Target Practice: I am able to meet my editor's deadline expectations. Fist-5?
Homework
  • Continue drafting your second major project. Remember not to lose-sight of this quarter's them of exploration!
